The University of Pretoria offers analytical capabilities using high-resolution liquid chromatography–quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry and comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry. These platforms support advanced qualitative and quantitative analysis across a range of analytical chemistry, metabolomics, environmental, biological, agricultural, and research-related applications.

Wits University, Mass Spectrometry Laboratory
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Instrumentation and services: Bruker UHPLC-QTOFMS and LECO Pegasus 4D GC × GC TOFMS.
The laboratory has capabilities in the analysis of synthesized organic compounds, complexes, plant and human metabolites, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, hydrocarbons, peptides, biological samples including fatty acids, archaeological samples, dyes, and essential oils.
